NASCAR Makes Minor Adjustments to Nashville Superspeedway Race Start Time as Precaution Against Potential Rainfall.

After a solitary off weekend during the 2023 season, NASCAR Cup Series resumes with the eagerly anticipated Ally 400 set to unfold at Nashville Superspeedway on Sunday evening.

The much-anticipated 300-lap race at the 1.33-mile (2.140-kilometer) oval track in Lebanon, Tennessee was originally planned to commence at 7:22 p.m. ET, while live coverage on NBC was scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. ET.

The 17th race of the 2023 season, comprising 36 races in total, will continue to be aired live on NBC at 7:00 p.m. ET. However, a slight adjustment has been made to the race’s start time, moving it forward by 17 minutes to 7:05 p.m. ET.

Due to the potential risk of rainfall later in the evening, NASCAR implemented this alteration to the schedule as a precautionary measure.

Based on information provided by The Weather Channel, the vicinity faces a significant probability of severe weather conditions, including the potential for strong winds, tornadoes, and hail.

A 46% chance of intense storms is anticipated to commence at 10:00 p.m. ET, with that likelihood escalating to 75% by 11:00 p.m. ET. These storms are expected to persist until approximately 3:00 a.m. ET.

The impact of the additional 17 minutes remains uncertain, but considering NASCAR’s ability to adjust the race’s start time, the decision to move it forward appears to be a prudent choice.

This flexibility allows NASCAR to exercise caution and make informed decisions to ensure the smooth progression of the event.

Marking the commencement of NBC’s 20-race segment in this year’s broadcast schedule, the upcoming race serves as the inaugural event for their coverage. Previously, Fox concluded their broadcasting duties at Sonoma Raceway two Sundays ago.

Out of the remaining 10 races in the regular season, NBC will broadcast four of them, while the remaining six will be aired on USA Network.

USA Network, which replaced NBC Sports Network after its closure at the end of 2021, serves as the alternative channel during NBC’s segment of the broadcast schedule and is owned by NBCUniversal.

USA Network will broadcast the initial four races of the 10-race playoff schedule, while the remaining six races will be aired on NBC.
